BJ40PLUS Wins the Second Prize in L2 and L3 of Vietnam VOC Off-road Racing Competition
On September 28 2019, VOC Off-road Racing Competition was kicked off in Son Tay, Hanoi, Vietnam. A total of 80 motorcades from Vietnam and Laos joined the competition, and 50 mainstream media, including Xehay, Auto Pro and Zing News, covered the event live. KYLIN, BAIC’s dealer in Vietnam, entered the competition for the first time with two refitted BJ40PLUS cars, and won the second prize of the L2 and L3 levels.
First launched in 2008, VOC Off-road Racing Competition has been held once a year and is the biggest off-road racing event in Vietnam. 2019 marks the 11th session of the event. The two refitted BJ40 PLUS cars were both 2.3T 6AT flagship vehicles, and entered L2 and L3 of the competition, which are the highest amateur levels that’s close to L4, the highest professional level.
KYLIN took full charge of site arrangements, booth establishment, media contact and logistical guarantee. It collaborated with the locally famous motorcade Redline, modifying the cars, replacing the front and rear shock absorption systems, installing tires suitable for movement on mud, increasing the height of chassis and adding rear axle differential lock, capstan and front and rear bumpers to improve the overall performance of the cars. It also invited two famous drivers from Redline to drive.
The BJ40 PLUS motorcade was the second that appeared at the site. While other cars are all powered by diesel, BJ40 PLUS is powered by oil with automatic gear and thus is not competitive. However, through time trials, daytime track races and nighttime track races, the excellent performance of the cars were fully motivated, and in combination of the outstanding performance of drivers, making BJ40 PLUS win the second price of the levels with zero faults and zero turnovers in the whole course. That shows the persistence of Beijing-made off-road vehicles, the representative of China’s self-developed off-road vehicles, in all-terrain performance and practicability.
“The experience is unforgettable in my life, and we are very proud of setting the record in a BAIC off-road vehicle,” said the driver Mr. Thang. The Information about tracks and the test time available before the competition was very limited to BJ40 PLUS that entered the event for the first time, and the complex terrains and road conditions are brand-new challenges to the skills of drivers and the performance of racing cars. “Off-road racing drivers can tailor the all-terrain configuration of the cars based on terrains and demand, and new users can match driving modes with using habits. I'm very satisfied with BJ40 PLUS,” said Mr. Lam.
Paying much attention to the event, BAIC International and BAIC Off-road Vehicle Sales Company set up a technically strong assistant team together and sent it to Vietnam for technical support and set guarantee.
BAIC entered Vietnam’s market in 2014, and has opened three showrooms by far. As a brand-new upgraded version of BJ40, BJ40 Plus was launched in Vietnam’s market at the end of November 2018, with more than 50 units sold at the trial operation stage. Inheriting the classical design of BJ40, BJ40 Plus is upgraded in the power system suspension structure and control system, providing Viennese consumers with more intuitive and efficient driving and riding experience and winning high praise from the local market.
