At the recent Beijing Automotive Show, the BAIC’s brand SENOVA announced the newest member of its family, the A315. The model is the newest strategic A-class vehicle to enter the Chinese market.
Following the release of the A5 Series is the A315 (A3 Series), the second model that combines both BAIC and Saab technologies, and the first of its kind in A-class sedans. In 2009 the Swedish auto maker Saab agreed to a transfer of technology to BAIC for the price of $170 million and after three years of integration and innovation in May 2013 launched the first Saab-based BAIC model, the A5. Within six months the A5 listed record sales of more than 10,000 vehicles. The A315 can be considered the “younger brother” to the A5 as they share the same safety-cage body design and the pendulum B-pillar drive shaft; however the A315 offers a better driving experience and a more attractive price.
The A315 launch will include six versions to fill the gaps in the A3 Series car market, as the high-end market for the Beijing automaker takes shape. As the largest share of the market of the A3 Series cars, the A315 is expected to boost car sales for the brand and to enhance the market share for Beijing-based automobiles.
