On August 26, it was announced at the “2022 Winter Olympic Committee sponsors signing ceremony” in Beijing that BAIC Group would be one of the eight official sponsors of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games Bid Committee. The Olympic games offer a unique chance for Chinese companies to promote their brands and BAIC has been keen to support Beijing’s bid for 2022. Being an official sponsor of the winter games committee will allow BAIC to increase brand awareness, strengthen global competitiveness and to highlight its strong performance in the process of internationalization.
At the ceremony, Yang Xiaochao, deputy mayor of Beijing and Winter Olympic Committee vice chairman, presented Zhang Jian, deputy general manager of BAIC Group, with the honor of being an official sponsor. In his acceptance speech, Zhang said that he believed that the Olympic Games offered a great platform for China to show its strength as a nation as well as unique chance for Chinese companies to highlight their international competitiveness. BAIC therefore supports the joint bid to host the Winter Olympics in Beijing and Zhangjiakou. In the past years, BAIC has further expanded its international brand visibility and has brought additional momentum to the global expansion of China’s automotive industry.
In recent years, BAIC Group has made remarkable achievements and has seen significant progress. In 2014, BAIC Group’s 2013 annual revenues of over 43.3 billion U.S. dollars made the company rank 248 in the global Fortune 500 list, marking an improvement by 88 ranks compared to the previous year. As an official sponsor of the 2022 Winter Olympics, BAIC’s global competitiveness and successful internationalization process is once again underlined.
