The 2014 APEC summit commenced in Beijing on November 5. In addition to the various meetings, a special activity entitled “Chinese and foreign media into Chinese enterprises” was carried out. On November 6, more than 70 media representatives that take part in APEC visited the “2014 APEC meeting’s Special Sponsor”—BAIC Group. The journalists had the chance to familiarize themselves with the flourishing Chinese automotive company.
Cai Suping, deputy general manager of BAIC Group stated that the APEC meeting offered a great opportunity to show the world the development of China’s auto industry and to highlight the current technological innovation. According to Cai, as one of China’s major automotive groups, BAIC Group has a responsibility to contribute to this event.
Over the years, BAIC Group has integrated all outstanding R & D resources on a global scale and has enhanced research and development capabilities to achieve a higher level of quality and production. In 2009, BAIC Group acquired the Saab technology platform, which is now the BAIC Group’s innovation system and platform. The successful development of the A520T/A523T marked BAIC Group’s leap to China’s most advanced level of technological development. With the onset in recent years of the development of electric cars , BAIC Group is currently at the forefront of certain sectors. BAIC developed the A113/A115EV, MZ40EV, and A520T/A523TEV pure electric passenger vehicles as well as other related products. Moreover, BAIC cooperated with Atieva, Siemens, SK Group and other famous enterprises. During the 2014 APEC summit, BAIC Group’s pure electric vehicle A520T/A523TEV was part of the official service vehicles.
BAIC has been pursuing and practicing the “BAIC Dream” which is in line with the idea of “Asia-Pacific Dream” voiced by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the current APEC meeting. The company will accelerate innovation and development and ensure that the BAIC brand stands out both on a domestic and global level.
