On December 26, the “Chinese Wisdom-Made – World Influence” brand award ceremony was held at Beijing’s Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. BAIC won the prestigious title of the “China’s most influential brand in the world.” The award is given to Chinese brands that play an important role on the world stage and is designed to honor Chinese companies that became global success stories and serve as leading examples of a successful globalization process of Chinese enterprises.
The list of “China’s most influential brands in the world” takes many important factors and indicators into account. These include: the brand value, market share, reputation, innovation, loyalty and brand popularity. With the help of mobile terminals and the internet, users could vote and voice the community’s concerns and support. After the contest was launched online and on the mobile terminals a strong participation was noted.
According to the poll, BAIC scored well in terms of business development ideas, innovative and outstanding market performance, excellent brand reputation, brand development and tangible outcomes as well as access for the judges and public recognition.
In 2014, four events marked BAIC’s great achievements in terms of strengthening its brand. In July 2014, thanks to the company’s 2013 annual revenues of more than 43.3 billion US dollars, BAIC Group ranked 248 in the Fortune Global 500 companies list. This once again highlighted BAIC Group’s successful internationalization strategy. In August 2014, BAIC Group’s high-quality passenger cars and commercial buses were selected as the “2014 APEC official car.” In November 2014, BAIC Group’s Beijing General Aviation Co., Ltd. and one of the three leading international civil helicopter manufacturers, Italy’s AgustaWestland signed a cooperation agreement. Soon after, witnessed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, BAIC Group and New Zealand’s Pacific Aerospace Limited (“PAL”) signed a strategic cooperation agreement to set up a joint venture called Beijing Pan Pacific Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. Finally, on December 19, 2014, BAIC Group was officially listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, becoming the highest in Hong Kong’s IPO financing of Chinese car manufacturers.
